some girls

My friend Paula told me about this book and then she was kind enough to send it to me. I’m a bit less than halfway through, but that’s only because I keep reading it at a snail’s pace just so it never ends.

The book is about a girl named Claire that moves to NYC from New Mexico, leaving her family and boyfriend behind. She doesn’t know anything or anyone, only that she wants to find herself. Soon after moving to NY, she meets and befriends Jade, her next-door neighbor, who “who personifies all the qualities Claire has come to New York to find; she lives according to her own desires, no mater how unconventional or unpredictable they may be.”

I love stories set in NY so the setting is an automatic win for me. As for the rest, I’m not far enough along to give a comprehensive opinion, but I’m really loving it so far.

Only downside is that the book seems to be out of print, but if you can track down a used copy, it might be worth picking up.
