Okay, that seems fair. But only if you email me the updated version of TBSOL so I can continue to enjoy it’s greatness! :-)

Don’t stress and take care x

It is an awful thing for anyone to be victimized in any way, shape, or form.
For someone to take what you have labored over not once, but twice, is that much harder to take. You have given your words so freely and I have enjoyed them immensely. With the revision and all the changes you’ve made, it was like reading a completely new story!! It is sad to think I won’t be able to finish it, anew.
Maybe the person was unaware of translation protocol and was trying to “help you” reach more readers??? I can only hope they are now aware of the world wide damage they have created with one little button marked, “Send”.
Sweet Realities to you Dreams…good luck!

Hey,
I’m very sorry to hear that this has happened to you. It’s a shame such people don’t realize what harm this does to everyone. To you as the author & also to those of us who throughly enjoy your work. TBSOL is one of my favorites & I’ve been enjoying reading V2 but I understand why you must do what you doing.
Take Care & Good Luck

P.S.

About your comment that people have said this is your own fault - Copyright Laws do extend to the Internet. Maybe some of these theives need to realize this & that they can be held accountable under the law.
Bye again

Ingrid: The nerve! You have one of the most distinctive voices in online fic, with a freshness for which your readers have to be unceasingly grateful. TBSOL is fine-textured, funny, tender, sexy and so very restrained–I suppose your Portuguese literary thief should be praised for good taste, but how tacky to claim credit for your work. If it’s any consolation, this sort of thing has happened to fine authors long (centuries!) before the internet came into being, and if it’s easier to do now, it probably is also easier to detect. I can’t imagine why anybody would blame you for the dishonesty of others. That’s like blaming a public library for its books being stolen/damaged by selfish, unscrupulous patrons.

Thanks for all of the comments. :) I hate this sort of thing mainly because it ruins things for everyone else.

I wish that it had been a mistake, or an accident (I would have overlooked it had I received so much as an apology) but it wasn’t simply that this person stole my work. She also lied to those saying that she’d stolen it saying that she’d once posted under the name Dreams but had now started posting under her real name. On top of that, she wrote a message in a public forum pretending to be me. And the “me” apologizing and saying it had been my fault because I had asked her to post it under her name, that we had been friends for 3 years, and not to be upset with her because it had been my idea.

All of this could’ve been so easily avoided since I’m fine with people translating my stories. :/

I’m sorry this happened to you, I’m really sorry I won’t get to finish reading a story that I was enjoying.

Forgot to ask, but what about Rayne? Are you gonna stop posting for that as well?

Oh man! That sucks!! I completely understand your reluctance to release the rest of it publicly but is there any way one might be able to read it? (a “whatever ends up in my inbox *stays* in my inbox” - kind of thing?)
I love the original and have been enjoying the revised version A LOT. It’s a brilliant story!!
It’s such a shame it had to come to this! :(

But… it’s up to you! You can’t let them win!
Good luck.

Hey, what about this: http://www.academyofbards.org/authors/dreams.html
Have you seen this? I think it’s the same “Dreams” you were talking about!!

Shane,

The Academy of Bards listing is legit. Ingrid was known as Dreams when she first started posting her stories. I think she’s decided to use her name now, but in any case, that’s thankfully not someone else trying to appropriate her work.

OH!! I’m sorry then, I didn’t know that. Thanks for enlighten me with this :)

Nothing to be sorry for! It’s good to know you’re looking out for Ingrid’s interests.
She maybe should make it clearer that Dreams is her… lol

Ingrid,I’m so sorry. A thief is a thief and laws protect you . I hope you’re right and let us know more about your works of course when you think it’s possible and convenient. All at your time. I most thank you for a really nice and great history. I love it! If I have a editorial you would be the Queen in this, for sure. All my efforts and, please, continue at your way: we’ll learn to wait for the best.

TBSOL Rocks!
