I’m writing this post in an attempt to get away from the Wimbledon match between Mauresmo and Sharapova. It’s causing me too much stress, and Mauresmo totally blew the second set and I can’t deal with it. She had the match. SHE HAD IT. Gah.
Anyway…
Yesterday was a pretty TBSOL-centric day. I printed up all 50-something pages of the novel so far and read over it, making corrections as I went. I was relieved that at no point did I feel like it was trash that needed rewriting. There’s a couple of scenes towards the beginning that I will probably go back to and tighten up, but otherwise, I’m rather pleased.
I have to say, Karine is excellent at telling me what things aren’t working. I had this really long scene written, and she kept saying, “I just don’t see the point. It drags.” And I started to argue, but after thinking about it, I realized she was right. It dragged and had no purpose. I took it out completely, and when I read over the whole thing last night I realized that it was a lot better without it.
(It’s not a scene that anyone else has read, so no worries about me having cut something out from what’s up at the LJ).
Last night, after watching the glorious victory of France over Portugal, I sat down to write some more. I popped out a little over 1,800 words while Karine checked her WoW auctions. I might be able to wrap up Chapter 13 today if I work on it a little more. Hopefully the 1800 words will make the cut when I read over it.
Rayne is officially paused until further notice (sorry, Lisa). I really want to focus on TBSOL right now, get that done, and then focus on Rayne and getting those updates up with a little more frequency. I hate making people wait.
Anyway….

All will be fine at Wimbledon. Not to worry, Ingrid. Amelie ain’t number 1 for nothin’!
Right you are. And win she did!!!
Yes, she did indeed! I just saw she won the final too. That is soooo happy. I have a very good German friend who is a diehard fan. She’s also a photographer, and has gotten to take many (many) pics/done interviews with her for different magazines. She says Amelie is the nicest/coolest player on the circuit, so it sounds like it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. I really hope this year is just the beginning of a long string of titles for her on every surface.
(i’m not a tennis nut or anything. nooo way. uh uh…)
I missed the finals because I was traveling at the time, but I heard about her victory and I was so happy! I couldn’t believe she defeated Henin-Hardenne. It’s great for her because she was able to validate her Australian Open title. I downloaded the match and will be watching it later so I can see what I missed
GO MAURESMO!
