The following message popped up in my inbox a few days ago:

I think I just figured out that I’m gay or maybe bi? I’m not sure what I am. I don’t really expect you to figure it out for me. I was just wondering though if you had some advice for a girl just starting out in the gay world? Anything would be helpful!

Mostly I wanted to reach through the screen and hug this person. I wish there was some sort of Welcome Package.

I’m iffy about giving advice, because advice is usually just an opinion and an opinion is entirely shaped by a person’s personal experiences. And my experiences may not be your experiences and what has worked for me may not work for you. That’s my longwinded way of saying I don’t really feel comfortable offering advice. At least not in the “this is what you should do” kind of way.

But I’d recommend sites like Autostraddle, AfterEllen, eurOut and Lesbicanarias as good starting places to find information, like-minded people, articles of interest, and things that may lead you to other great and wonderful things. That’d be my “Too Long, Didn’t Read” answer to the question.

The long answer is that I’m always happy to share whatever nuggets of wisdom I’ve acquired while fumbling my way through life these past 31 years. And I shall share these insights with you now at no extra charge.

We’ll call them“Ing-sights.”

30 Day Photo Challenge – Day 30: Yay!

Here we are again at the end of another 30 day challenge. Can you believe it? I can’t.

The photo challenge was … I won’t say a success because that would imply that I wowed you daily with my superior photo-taking prowess and that would be exaggerating things a little. Let’s just say I managed to take a picture every day for 30 days and that’s a Yay-thing.

Anyway, the “questions” challenge sort of fizzled out there at the end due to the fact that I didn’t get around to blogging over the weekend. I’ve got 99 excuses but a good one ain’t one. I did, however, get a flurry of questions once I asked for questions and I intend to answer every single one. It’ll be less of a daily challenge, and more of a “Imma just answer your questions, k?” thing. IJAYQK? for short.

So, I know what you’re going to say – you’re going to say, “But, Ingrid, it’s Tuesday.” Is it, though? Are you sure? Isn’t time just a made-up thing anyway? Isn’t it possible that somewhere in the universe there’s a planet where it is still Monday? Yes. Yes it is possible.

Happy Monday everyone! Don’t worry, Friday is still only three days away. We’ll just skip right to Wednesday tomorrow. Who needs Tuesdays? (If you need Tuesdays for whatever reason, don’t worry, I will rearrange time and make it Tuesday just for you. Because I’m nice. And also have the power to rearrange time).

Open Blog Mondays is Back!

It hadn’t really gone anywhere, it’s just that I’d forgotten to remind people to send me things and so I had nothing to share. Bad, Ingrid.

For those of you just joining us, you can read all about OBM right here. But let me summarize it for you:

On Open Blog Mondays I post things other people (perhaps you?) ask me to share. Be it an announcement, something you wrote, something you drew, a link to something you found interesting/relevant/important,  a photograph, a video you enjoyed or made yourself, a guest post, or a project you’re working on that you want more people to know about.

In short: Mi blog es tu blog.

In truth, I meant to post this yesterday (when it actually was Monday) but I was on the road for half the day and then my computer wouldn’t turn on – it was angry I left it unused all weekend or something. But we’re here now, and that’s what’s important.

30 Day Photo Challenge – Day 25:
SayinG “what’s up” to my cup

Our plans for the weekend involve driving up to Yutz (finally) to visit Lea (my sister-in-law) at her new abode. Usually by this point I have a packing list and a to-do list and a make-a-list list and a list of lists to make lists of.  Today? Nothing. I’m a little behind. I blame Instagram for this. I was like, “Oooh new app to play with.” And then hours of my life evaporated before my eyes. What was I even doing? I don’t know!

Here’s a bonus photo that I took that day we ran into the serial killer old lady.

Meh Picture of the Day – Day 24: Meh

It’s a meh day. I hate meh days. On meh days I feel meh about everything and everything is meh and I don’t feel like doing anything or talking about anything or thinking about anything. The meh takes over.

30 Day Questions Challenge – Day 23: Where do you get your ideas?

I woke up to that question in an email the other day, and my answer was this:

Ideas tend to pop up randomly in my head. I think? I don’t know. They’re just kind of there. Then they keep piling up because I don’t get to them fast enough, and then they get annoyed. Then they start honking. There’s a lot of honking in my head. That … does that sound dirty to you? Like I’m talking about boobs? I’m not talking about boobs. Did I answer the question?

Anyway, I started thinking about it, and I realized I hadn’t been perfectly honest. How I get my ideas varies from project to project, but I can certainly tell you how I came up with Rayne, for example. Rayne – for those who don’t know – is a paranormal romance series thingie I’m working on or will be working on once I’m done editing TBSOL.

30 Day Photo Challenge – Day 22: mmmm bagels

It’s Monday

… and I’ve done nothing. It’s a little after 6pm right now and I’ve spent the day in a haze of spacey blinkiness. Blinkiness doesn’t seem to be a word, but I think it should be. I’ve drank too much coffee and everything’s going squiggly again. My brain is somewhere between hyper and snorey. I’m totally making up words today. That should bode well for writing later.

30 Day Questions Challenge – Day 22: What’s your typical day like?

Err… my typical day. Well, it usually goes like this:

30 Day Photo Challenge – Day 21: Spaceship & Unicorn

So the world didn’t end…

Are we pleased? Disappointed? Personally, I wasn’t too worried. Rebecca Black prophesized that the day after Saturday would be Sunday, so I figured we were safe. Life may now proceed as normal until the next scheduled apocalypse.

30 Day Photo Challenge – Day 20:
More Notebook/coffee Porn

Happy Rapture Day!

I’m not sure why I’m bothering to post anything since the world is ending – or was it supposed to end already? Not sure. Happy Rapture Day, regardless. Go out and party like there’s no tomorrow.

30 Day Questions Challenge – Day 20: (Question from a reader) Do you have phobias? What’s your biggest fear?

In order for me to answer this question as honestly as possible, I must first give a lesson in phobias, because it’s been my experience that people don’t really get the difference between run-of-the-mill fear and paralyzing phobia.

This will be an illustrated lesson (because it’s fun to draw on the iPad).
